What are Blackjack Expressions?

In every task that we do, basics always come into play.  It’s the very first and crucial step in learning anything.  In online gambling where life savings can be doubled or lost in one sitting, it’s always imperative to remember the fundamentals before hustling it like a pro.  In blackjack, although the goal of the game is easy to learn, the basics are still essential before attempting to pull off a strategy.  Some novices tend to be too overconfident in their skills and get excited over the promise of big cash.  They tend to forget that they don’t just have to beat the dealer but also the casino, which has the house edge, and, of course, they wouldn’t let you go that easily.

A Little Review

The main objective of the game is to get a hand higher than the dealer.  The highest hand is equal to 21.  Face cards are all worth 10, while aces are 11.  If the ace causes the hand to exceed 21, then it is equal to 1.  Players have to remember these terms - hit, stand, double down, split and surrender.  These are the player’s options in playing the game.  Hit means you want to take another card which is the opposite of stand.  It can also be called as stay or stick.  Double down means you’re doubling the original bet and take another card.  Split means your current cards will be the first in a new hand. 

The card has to be of the same value or rank.  Surrender, as the name suggests, is giving up your hand and forfeiting half of your bet.  These decisions are made during the game through hand signals.  After all the players have made their decisions, the dealer is required to hit when he or she gets 17.  In other variations, the dealer gets to stand on 17.  Regardless of what the players have, the dealer has to show his or her hole cards.  The player with the hand higher than the dealer wins.  If the player and the dealer have the same value of hand, it’s called a push, which is a tie, and no one wins.

The Game

There are many variations of blackjack, so the rules vary which gives the game additional features.  In some, players can surrender later, resplit aces, dealer stands or hits on soft 17 or double after resplit.  Some of these rules are favorable, while some are not.  There are also different strategies that players can use such as card counting and shuffle tracking.
