What are Blackjack Variations?

Card games have been popular pastimes for years.  Ever since gambling was legalized, card games have been casino favorites.  Some have even turned it into a source of livelihood, which had infamously turned it into a kind of profession.  Through the ages, players have been devising of ways in putting a new spin to their favorite games.  This doesn’t only prevent a card game from getting worn out and outdated but also provides a challenge for veterans in the card game.  Blackjack, like poker, also has its variations, which, coincidentally, is almost a variation in itself.  It was once dubbed as beatable which made the card game more popular than its counterparts.

Blackjack Overview

Blackjack has many variations.  Casinos are making their own to put a new twist to the game.  Unfortunately, this does not mean that the games have gotten easier.  Each variation has its own set of rules, and these rules, in turn, affect the odds of the game.  They also have their own features and house edge.  Online casinos offer general variations that are common nowadays.  European, multi-hand, Vegas downtown, double exposure, Chinese, Vegas strip, elimination, three card, double attack, single deck, and Atlantic City blackjack are some of its variations.  These variations have their own rules such as the dealer hits or stands soft seventeen, double first two cards or nine to eleven only, resplit to three or four hands, and one or five bet position.  These rules vary from variation to another, and some can be favorable to the player.  House edge varies from 0.17% to as high as 0.60%.

Which One to Pick

Internet Blackjack

Players are free to choose what blackjack they want to try out.  But it’s better to search for features that are favorable for them such as late surrender and one card after splitting aces.  They should also watch out for unfavorable ones such as dealer wins ties and many numbers of decks.  Late surrender enables players to give up and retrieve half of his bet.  If the player gets another ace after splitting his first, he can resplit again.  Less number of decks is more favorable to players.  Casinos, whether they are land-based or online, also have their own versions that players can try.

Even though blackjack can be beaten, favorable rules make it easier for players to get their return investment.  Players must always remember to take a look at the house edge, which is basically the advantage of the casino over the player.
